  • Feed My Sheep

Then he said to him a third time, 'Simon son of John, do you love me?' Peter was hurt that he asked him a third time, 'Do you love me?' and said, 'Lord, you know everything; you know I love you.' Jesus said to him, 'Feed my sheep.'

    John 21:17

Selfless Love and a Commitment to Service are two of the Core Values of Pensacola Catholic High School. This verse from the Gospel helps us to understand that love of Christ is the foundation of our call to service. Before Jesus entrusts his beloved sheep to Peter, he ensures that Peter understands that love (and specifically love of God) must come first. At this time in our world’s history, so many of Christ’s flock are in need of this spiritual nourishment that must come from a foundation of our Selfless Love of God in Jesus.

    Lord Jesus,
we hunger for Your love; we thirst for Your grace.
You called St. Peter to feed Your sheep in their need.
Fill us with the graces and spiritual nourishment that we need today.
Strengthened by Your food, give us the grace to be faithful in lifting up all the people whom You have placed in our lives.
May we love them as You do. Amen.
